Sandy Lane sit on the busy A342 near Bowood House and gardens. It is a multi-layered thatch and tile sandstone village with small cottage gardens, mature hedges and trees.

Sandy Lane.

It came into being when estate workers cottages were submerged when creating Bowood's lake and new homes had to be built for them.

There is a thatched church in the village, the 18th century George Inn and a village well topped off with a pyramidal tiled roof.
