Half mile south of the A4 near West Kennet is a impressive burial mound some 340 feet (104 metres) long and about 8 feet (2.4 metres) high with four lateral chambers and a burial
chamber at the eastern end. Large sarsens and drystone walling make up the chambers and huge capstones form the ceilings. The entrance is obscured but not blocked by large sarsens with smaller flanking stones which
once sealed the mound after about one thousand years of use.
Accessibility is easy, parking at one of two lay-bys just east of Silbury Hill and following the signposted footpath.
