Underground Quarry at Corsham

BACK TO MAP

Generations of quarrymen have dug this creamy coloured Bath stone to build the fashionable architecture of Bath, Britain and the rest of the world.

This labyrinth of caverns deep below the Wiltshire countryside is the only shaft stone mine open to the public in the world. All tours are guided; miner's lamps and helmets are provided. Be warned though, there are 159 steps up out of the quarry.

Open April, May, June and October, Sundays, bank holidays Mondays and summer half-term week; July to September, daily except Fridays.
