Sandy Lane sit on the busy A342 near Bowood House and gardens. It is a multi-layered thatch and tile

It came into being when estate workers cottages were submerged when creating Bowood's lake and new homes had to be built for them.

There is a thatched church in the village, the 18th century George Inn and a village well topped off with a pyramidal tiled roof.
