About Us

Back in the spring and summer of 2001, the United Kingdom suffered a crippling outbreak of Foot and Mouth disease, causing a crisis in British agriculture and tourism.

There were 2,000 cases of the disease on farms over the British countryside. More than 10 million sheep and cattle were slaughtered in, an eventually successful attempt to stop the disease. To control the spread of the disease, public rights of way across farmland were closed by order.

This damaged the popularity of Britain as a tourist destination and by the time the disease was halted in October 2001, the crisis was estimated to have cost the United Kingdom £8 billion, and had dominated much of the UK media prior to the attacks on the Twin Towers in New York on 11th September.

As an attempt to help bring overseas tourists back to Wiltshire, this site was developed.
Hopefully, in some small way it has helped and continues to do so.
